Through loss comes new light.
This is a quiet story of parting, healing, and the warmth that returns with time.

🕒 This article takes about 2 to 3 minutes to read in Japanese.

But sometimes, within that silence, a new encounter gently finds its way into our hearts.

We used to have a Shiba Inu named Sakura.

She grew up with our children like a younger sister — playing, laughing, and sometimes crying together.

In 2023, she passed away at the age of 19.

She had been by our side every single day since she was born. Her absence left a void in our home — a silence too deep for words.

A few weeks after saying goodbye to Sakura, we came across a discounted Shiba Inu left unsold at a pet store.

There was something lonely about her, and without much thought, we brought her home.

We named her Momiji. Like a falling autumn leaf, she quietly fluttered into our lives.

Her first walk was in one of our favorite parks. She was nervous, tugging gently on the leash — it was all so new for her.

Now, she’s truly one of us. She naps peacefully on her favorite beanbag, completely at ease.

For those grieving the loss of a pet, opening their hearts again can feel difficult. But sometimes, fate quietly brings a new beginning.

Through life with Momiji, we've rediscovered warmth, healing, and the quiet strength to move forward again.

I hope this little story gently touches someone’s heart, and perhaps helps them take a small step forward.

I’ll continue to write, gently and quietly, about our days together with Momiji.
