A quiet day with my wife and our Shiba Inu Momiji — surrounded by mountains, cherry blossoms, and the sea.
Sometimes, the best rewards are simple: crispy fried fish and a cold beer after a good walk.

When life feels a bit heavy, a quiet spring day with mountains, the sea, and loved ones can lighten your heart.
That’s exactly what we went looking for—just my wife, Momiji, and me.
Lately, I’ve been craving somewhere that offers both the sea and the mountains. So we visited Azumayama Park in Ninomiya, just the three of us: my wife, our Shiba Inu Momiji, and me.

Momiji loves water. But when it comes to hiking uphill, she tends to look at me like, “Can we go home yet?” Once she sees the sea or a stream, though, she flips a switch — full sprint, full joy!
The cherry blossoms were in full bloom under the warm spring sun. Children’s laughter echoed across the park — a peaceful moment that felt almost luxurious.

These days, I struggle to keep up with my wife during hikes. She walks ahead, seemingly tireless.
So this time, I picked a trail I could manage without overdoing it.
My goal is to rebuild enough stamina to enjoy walking alongside her again.
I'm also training for a 10km run — and working on my weight.
I probably weigh around 74kg (haven’t dared to step on the scale lately).
My target is 65kg, but I’d settle for 68kg.

We headed home via the expressway in our Prius, which has now clocked over 190,000 km.
No lunch at the park. Instead, we stopped by Kakujo Gyoryu and picked up some aji fry.
Back home, it was crispy fried horse mackerel and a cold beer — a perfect combo.
Why is beer after exercise always so good?
“I walked a lot today, so it’s fine” — classic 50s thinking.

Now I’m wondering where to go next. Hopefully I’ll be a little stronger next time — enough to enjoy another walk with my wife and Momiji.
Perhaps these ordinary moments are the truest kind of luxury.
