Purpose of This Article In this post, I reflect on my own past through the lens of the anime Bocchi the Rock!, sharing what it stirred in me from the perspective of someone in their 50s. As someone who used to be a “loner” in school, I talk about how I’ve slowly changed over the years and the quiet courage it takes to grow—even just a little.

Introduction There’s this anime called Bocchi the Rock! When I first heard the title, I thought, “Yeah… that sounds like my younger self.”
Back in high school, I was a complete loner. I couldn’t even greet girls, and I tried to stay as invisible as possible in class. Going through an entire day without talking to anyone? Totally normal.
But somehow, that same boy grew up, got married, raised kids, and now finds himself sharing jokes with coworkers over lunch. I’m still not great at speaking in public, but looking back, I think I’ve changed—bit by bit.
And here’s the thing: I haven’t even watched this anime. But something about Bocchi the Rock! pulled me in. Maybe because… Bocchi-chan reminds me of who I used to be.
